AFFORDABLE HOUSING – A MHADA ICON

• With over seven lakh houses across the state of Maharashtra, including two lakh alone in Mumbai, during the last seven decades, MHADA enjoys the position of largest housing Authority in the country.
• MHADA being a non-profit organization, committed to provide a solution to critical affordable housing scenario in the state.
• MHADA has been the Special Planning Authority for various special projects viz- Chandrapur, Solapur, Dharavi.
• To boost the housing activities in the state MHADA has been appointed as the special planning Authority. In Mumbai, MHADA has around 104 layouts, where MHADA's role will be more instrumental. Also in the implementation of various PMAY projects in the state, the decision of the state will be very useful and give impetus to the housing activities.

Computerised Housing Lottery

Computerised housing lottery for the selection of successful applicant from among a lakh applicants and allot them MHADA house through computerized program for housing lottery is the forte of MHADA, which ensures transparency and trust of the people of the state.

Material Testing Laboratory

MHADA owns a Material Testing Laboratory to ensure quality in MHADA housing projects. The laboratory also conducts tests for other departments including CPWD, PWD, TMC, Railways, MTNL, BSNL, BPT, AAI, P&t, ONGC, MES and other local bodies.

MHADA aims to make the laboratory to be second to none, on par with the best professional standards. To maintain its high professional standards The laboratory has won ISO certification of the year 2000.

Various tests are performed in the laboratory like strength of cement & mortar (compressive strength), Bricks(Crushing ad Water absorption), Fine aggregate(sand), Coarse Aggregate (physical and mechanical test), Cement Concrete tiles(abrasion, water absorption and Transverse strength), Structural steel(physical and Mechanical test), Physical test on cement, Solid concrete and Hollow block (compressive strength),Moisture content of Timber and Rebound hammer testing and many other tests.

Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority, a statutory housing authority, a nodal agency of Maharashtra state, is a pioneer organization providing affordable housing in the state.

Shelter being one of the basic necessities of human beings, We take pride to uplift the standard of living of the last section of the society, thereby providing affordable houses. Our continuous efforts in the Housing sector have ensured that the heartland remains our cherished home.

Vulnerable groups in society such as the financially-challenged are largely dependent on MHADA for their dream home.

MHADA provides a unique service to the humankind through Mumbai building repairs and reconstruction board. The numero uno kind board repairs and reconstructs the old and dilapidated cessed buildings of the island city of Mumbai and also rehabilitates the tenants. There are 16,000 old cessed buildings in the island city.

MHADA is the only Housing Authority in the country to provide housing to the Mill workers, who were rendered jobless and homeless in midst of 1980's.
